Emily Adams is a young dramatic coloratura soprano based in Atlanta, GA, but born and raised in Southern Louisiana. She is well known for her interpretations of Die Königin der Nacht (Die Zauberflöte), Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor), and Alcina (Alcina).

As an opera singer, Emily is passionate about bringing the beauty of music, especially opera from the Baroque, Enlightenment, and the bel canto, to life. Based in Atlanta, Emily has recently spent much her time St. Petersburg, FL, covering Handel's Alcina and covering the titular character of Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor with St. Petersburg Opera under Maestro Mark Sforzini. In May of 2023, she debuted Die Königin der Nacht (Die Zauberflöte) with Harrower Opera Theatre in Atlanta, GA. That same May, she was the graduate winner of the prestigious Opera Guild of Atlanta's Scholarship Competition.

Other engagements in 2024 include Bach's Magnificat with Emory Presbyterian in Decatur, GA, under the baton of Justin Han; Lucia di Lammermoor with Capitol City Opera; and the Vivaldi Magnificat with Trinity Lutheran in Marietta, GA. Earlier this year in February, Mrs. Adams performed Milhaud's Chansons de Ronsard, originally written for French coloratura soprano Lily Pons with the Georgia State University Orchestra and Dr. Tamara Dworetz on the podium.

Most recently in November of 2024 she was awarded the Encouragement award for the Georgia Division of the Metropolitan Opera Eric and Dominique Laffont Competition, and will return as a pre-qualified applicant next year.

Engagements for 2025 currently include Roberto Devereux where she will premiere the role of Elisabetta with Capitol City Opera in Atlanta, GA.

When she isn't singing around Atlanta, or traveling all over the country for companies to hear her voice, she is at home with her husband, Lee, and her three pets: dog Farrah, kitty Louie, and chameleon Evie, teaching her many talented students at Hawk Music Academy in Cumming, GA, or at the Alpharetta, GA, PetSmart as a Pet Care Specialist handling small pets, reptiles, birds, and more - you can find her somewhere in a Midtown coffee shop or restaurant enjoying everything that ATL has to offer! As a professional singer, Emily has kept her maiden name, Adams, as her stage name. In all other forms of business, Emily uses her married name, Mrs. Emily Whitney.
